I've been to a fair share of therapists in my day. Some of them have been wonderful, and some have been outright rotten. It's all in the luck of the draw, and sometimes you can't tell when your mental health is in the hands of a monster until that monster unhands you!

In college, I had a different therapist yearly because I was always sent to the trainees. These were people in grad school who took a year to practice being a therapist before they were actual therapists. The worst part about this was that I had to explain my whole life story to a new therapist every year! Luckily, I talk really fast, so I was usually able to cover everything over the course of one session. That didn't make this requirement any less annoying. If I had humorous memes that could perfectly encapsulate my major life events, that would've made those first sessions so much easier.
